In the course of providing SEO and digital marketing services, we may also process business-related data, including website information, analytics data, search performance metrics, and other campaign-related information. Any access credentials to client platforms or tools are collected only with explicit authorization and are used solely for service delivery within the agreed scope.
We may also automatically collect limited technical information when users interact with our website, such as IP address, browser type, device information, and usage data. This information is used to maintain website security, analyze performance, and improve functionality. This paragraph applies to our website only. All data collected and processed by MarkoMetrics is handled in alignment with the scope, responsibilities, and limitations outlined in our client onboarding documents, service agreements, and pricing proposals.
For SEO engagements, MarkoMetrics acts solely as a service provider and processes website data, analytics data, and search performance information exclusively for the purpose of delivering agreed-upon SEO services. Ownership of all client data remains with the client. Access to client systems, platforms, or tools is provided voluntarily and used strictly within the confirmed scope of work.
Data handling, retention, and deletion practices follow the processes agreed upon during onboarding and service closure.
MarkoMetrics SEO/GEO Checker Chrome Extension
This section applies to the MarkoMetrics SEO/GEO Checker browser extension ("the extension"). If anything in this section differs from the rest of this policy, this section controls for the extension.
What the extension does
The extension scans a web page that you choose, scores it for SEO and AI-search readiness, and can generate suggested fixes using an AI provider and API key that you supply.
Our promise
Stored only on this device. Sent directly to the provider when you generate a fix, never to MarkoMetrics.
No account, no backend, no analytics
The extension has no sign-up, no login, and no MarkoMetrics server. It does not use analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising code. MarkoMetrics cannot see your API key, the pages you scan, your scan results, or the fixes you generate.
Data the extension handles
- Page content: When you click Scan, the extension reads the current page in your browser (for example the title, headings, meta tags, links, images, structured data, and text). The audit runs locally on your device.
- Site files: To run technical checks, the extension requests the scanned site's public robots.txt and sitemap.xml directly from your browser, in the same way any browser would.
- Scan results and history: Your latest results, a bounded per-page score history, and your settings are saved on your device using Chrome's local extension storage. They are not synced and are not sent to us.
- API key: The AI provider API key you enter is saved on your device only. It is never sent to MarkoMetrics.
When data leaves your device
Data leaves your device only when you click Generate fix, or Test connection in Settings. In that case, your API key and the relevant page text are sent directly from your browser, over HTTPS, to the AI provider you selected (OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini). That provider processes the request under its own terms and privacy policy, and any usage charges are billed to you by that provider. We recommend reviewing your provider's policies before use. If you do not click Generate fix, no page content is sent to any AI provider.
Exports
PDF and JSON exports are created on your device and saved where you choose. They do not include your API key.
Permissions
The extension requests only the permissions it needs for its single purpose: activeTab and scripting (to read the page you scan), storage (to save results and settings on your device), sidePanel (to show results), and access to http and https pages (to scan the pages you open, fetch their robots.txt and sitemap.xml, and contact your chosen AI provider). It does not run on pages in the background that you have not scanned.
What we do not do
We do not sell or transfer extension user data to third parties, other than the user-initiated request to your chosen AI provider described above. We do not use or transfer extension user data for any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose. We do not use or transfer extension user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending. We do not use remote code. All executable code is included in the extension package.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
The use of information received from Chrome APIs by the extension will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Deleting your data
You can remove saved scan history and your API key from the extension Settings at any time. Uninstalling the extension removes all data it stored on your device. Because we do not hold your extension data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Changes
If we ever change how the extension handles data, we will update this section and the effective date before the change ships.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable laws, individuals may have the right to request access to their personal data, request corrections or updates, request deletion or restriction of processing, and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. HIPAA Disclaimer
MarkoMetrics does not knowingly collect, store, or process Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Our services are not intended for the handling of sensitive health-related data, and clients are advised not to share PHI through our platforms, systems, or communications.
